Tabs 4 Wheelchairs Project
We have given away over 1400 wheelchairs as of September 2011.
With the help of people around the world, we collect tabs from pop and beer cans. It is the pure aluminum in these tabs, that we are able to convert into cash. We use this cash to purchase wheelchairs for the disabled.
If you would like to help out with this worthy cause, please contact the branch. You can start a collection at your home, office, legion, church, community centre, or wherever! Then, send the tabs to us... you can even do it in person. We will also accept monetary donations to assist with our expenses.
If you, or someone you know, is in need of a wheelchair and cannot afford it, please let us know. You can contact us by calling the Branch or by email.
Robbie's Run
The 2011 edition of this run was another huge success. The organizers of Robbie's Run presented us with over 1 1/2 ton of tabs, and graced us with over 300 bikes. This is their 18th year supporting the project, and it all started in 1993 when Robbie needed a wheelchair after a motorcycle accident. Click here to read the story. Robbie and his friends have been coming back every year since. Click here for photos.
Our Volunteers
Many thanks go out to our dedicated volunteers that sort, package, weigh, and transport the tabs. Without them, this project would not have grown to the size it has.
